SONIA DE LOS SANTOS and MARTIN VEJARANO
/

Sonia De Los Santos and bandmate Martin Vejarano stopped by Young At Heart, and we chatted about how gratifying performing for families can be, and how for Sonia and Martin, it keeps them wanting to keep creating more original music. After years playing with Dan Zanes and Friends, Sonia branched out on her own. In 2015 she released her first solo family music album titled Mi Viaje: De Nuevo León to the New York Island (Parents’ Choice Foundation Gold Award Winner) a collection of songs that reflect her experiences growing up in Mexico, moving to another country, learning about other cultures, and in the process, feeling closer to her own heritage. Last October, Sonia released her second album, ¡Alegría!, a bilingual album for families where she shares some of the themes that make her happy like migrating butterflies, waking up early, wildflowers, jumping bunnies, rattling maracas, being grateful to her parents, playing with her band, and of course, singing about birds!

This past January, Sonia and Martin performed live at Saturday Morning Tunes, and thanks to engineer Donnie Carlo, you’ll hear a song from that performance during the interview.

Enjoy!
