Megan Byrd is your radio weekend warrior: hanging with you on the WTMD airwaves every Saturday from 3–6 PM, and Sunday from 3–7 PM.
On Countdown to Discovery (Sunday, 6-7 PM), Megan doubles your dose of Total Music Discovery with the Pecking Order—counting down the Top 5 Spins of the Week; introduces the latest batch of Fresh Hatchlings—the newest additions to the airwaves; and highlights new Baltimore music in her From the Nest segment. Plus, Taking Flight—her personal favorite discoveries as of late, introducing trailblazing artists from a variety of genres.
As a lifelong Marylander and current Baltimore City resident, she brings an air of local authenticity to the airwaves and a fierce advocacy for the many pockets of the region’s arts and music scene. In addition to supporting local artists, she is deeply passionate about serving her community through WTMD’s mission: curating Total Music Discovery.
As one of the few female DJ’s in the “Triple A” radio broadcasting format, her aim is to demonstrate the depth of music knowledge and passion women can bring to the table. She aims to inform, educate, and entertain—having listeners take something away from every show… whether it’s an interesting piece of trivia or quirky artist anecdote.
What really lights Byrd up about her on-air role is uncovering musical gems on a near daily basis. Whether it’s digging deep into a music legend’s “lost archive,” giving a platform to a hungry local band who lit up the corner bar over the weekend, or an international band that’s making waves in a growing genre, you’re guaranteed to take a sonic journey and come out the other end a fan… or at least inspired!
Byrd’s taste in music is about as eclectic as her hobbies. In her free time, she enjoys assembling miniatures, scouting out treasures at weekend estate sales, exploring museums, attempting to play Wordle on a daily basis, crafting playlists for every potential mood, fawning over corgis, practicing embroidery, continuing her quest for the perfect karaoke song, jamming on guitar, and teaching her nieces corny jokes.
