SHEROES Radio (Saturday, 8a – 9a): This week’s guest is star-on-the-rise Jensen McRae, who put out her second album – and first for Dead Oceans – I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!, back in April.
The Underground Archives (Sunday, 8a – 10a): It’s an action-packed show this week that features a free 1968 Festival in London’s Hyde Park. The original Small Faces band release a concept album that spends six weeks at number one on the UK album charts, and Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice celebrates a birthday. Plus, it’s week two of “The Summer Of Hey Joe”.
American Routes (Sunday, 3p – 5p): The blues carry us from back roads to city streets, with heartache and hope in jazz, country, and folk music. Featuring Cedell Davis, Guitar Slim, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Irma Thomas, and Lucinda Williams. Plus, younger traditionalists Cedric Watson and the late Chris Stafford.
Detour (Sunday, 5p – 7p): New music by Trenton Wagler and Kadialy Kouyate; Old music by Ollabelle and Brewer & Shipley; Music from USA/Sudan, Senegal, Sweden, Mauritania/Canada, Canada (Nova Scotia), Russia (Republic of Tatarstan), USA/India, Mali, England, and Denmark plus plenty from the USA; and the ugliest train in town can sing.
