The 5 o’clock Shadow: Monday June 20, 2022

This song is in honor of the observance of Juneteenth.

The song was inspired by various events in the original song writer’s life, most prominently when he and his entourage were turned away from a whites-only motel in Louisiana. He felt compelled to write a song that spoke to his struggle and of those around him, and that pertained to the Civil Rights Movement. He died at the early age of 33.

The Shadow band is made up of four siblings from New Orleans.
