The 5 O’clock Shadow: Thursday October 14, 2021
Today’s Shadow is an antiestablishment song of defiance and blue-collar pride. The song has been covered by everyone from U2 to Wyclef Jean, to Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl, Zac Brown and Larkin Poe’s version was the last to make an appearance on The 5 O’clock Shadow.
The Shadow artist self-titled debut was released on Jack Johnson’s record label, Brushfire in 2004.
The original artist does not own the rights to the song and so has been forced to painfully stand by as it is used inappropriately in advertising, such as for Wrangler Jeans.
