Well, we are still officially in the Dog Days of Summer for another four or five days. What, you ask, are the The Dog Days of Summer? These are the hot, sultry days of summer beginning July 3rd and ending August 11th. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which Hellenistic astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck. But don’t worry – I’m not playing songs about any of those things because honestly, it hasn’t been a bad summer here in Maryland. No fires. No 117 degree heat. We’re lucky. So this morning, we’ll celebrate with songs about sweet summer pastimes and great new music from kindie artists. We’ve also got not one but two Artist SongBites from Claudia Robin Gunn and Elliott Park.

Enjoy, and please follow us on Instagram and like us on Facebook.
