The 5 O’clock Shadow: Thursday October 1, 2020
The original artists were known for dressing up like characters from Star Wars, Back to the Future and Wayne’s World during their live performances.
The Shadow artist was working in a shoe factory when he heard Stephen Stills Treetop Flyer on the radio and was inspired to pursue songwriting.
The song was a huge aught hit. The song was at the top of the British charts for nine weeks (which no other song had achieved in over ten years). It won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance and Rolling Stone ranked it at #1 in their 100 songs of the decade (2000–2009). It has been covered by Maroon 5, The Raconteurs, Billy Idol, Butch Walker, Cat Power, The Twilight Singers, Mates of State, of Montreal, The Zutons, The Kooks and today’s Shadow artist.
