The 5 O’clock Shadow: Monday September 21, 2020

People often credit this song to The Shadow artist but it was only because he discovered it on a cassette tape he bought in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport that he began incorporating it in to his live shows.

The song was not originally released on an album. It was not originally released in the U.S. and it never made it on to the UK or any other charts. It was produced by Cat Stevens.

In November 1989, The Shadow artist jumped onstage during a performance by the original artist at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey and the two performed a long version together in a manner that more closely resembled the original up-tempo, reggae interpretation of the song.
