Most people do not realize this is a cover for The Shadow artist.
The Shadow band’s lead singer graduated from Lansdowne High School. He also briefly attended MICA. His band were pioneers of the new wave sound.
The original artist was a purveyor of soul music. He is often referred to as “The Last of the Great Soul Singers”. He has won 11 Grammy’s, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. Two of his songs, including this one have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. He is also a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and The Songwriters Hall of Fame and is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient.
