WTMD welcomes Mary Prankster as our next Artist in Residence.
Radio has played a pivotal role in the life and career of the cult Baltimore indie rocker Mary Prankster. And WTMD is proud to announced Mary as our next Artist in Residence.
Mary will be curating an hour of radio at 7 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 18 — the evening before her sold out A Very Mary (Prankster) Xmas live show at the station.
Then, Mary sits down with Baltimore Hit Parade host Sam Sessa for an in-depth interview about her life and career at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
After being banned from playing live in her hometown of Annapolis in the 1990s, Mary was thrown a lifeline by WHFS, who started playing one of her early singles on their morning show. WHFS would go on to sponsor a Mary Prankster tour, and have her play the HFSTival.
That support helped Mary become the revered musician she is today in the Baltimore and D.C. area. And WTMD is glad to welcome Mary Prankster as our next Artist in Residence.
