This long running vocal group were the leading Southern black gospel ensemble for over fifty years and a seminal force in that genre. They performed at the Newport Folk Festival in 1966 and began to embrace contemporary pop styles. Their sugar water sweet vocal harmonies worked well with this song about having a one on one relationship with a supreme being.

This 1980’s electro-pop band took their name from a French fashion magazine and became a huge success on the UK, and American pop charts. Their music was synthesizer driven, often moody, with provocative lyrics about personal relationships.
