Its National one hit wonder day so…….. today’s Shadow is a one hit wonder. The interesting thing about this one hit wonder, it was a one hit wonder for two separate artists, in two separate decades.
The original artist’s 1964 version was not the hit. It wasn’t until a popular club dj started playing it in the 70’s that it found life. She recorded a new version in 1976 that became a hit. However a year later she was in a tragic car accident in which she was driving. Her musician boyfriend and collaborator who was also the father of her child was killed.
Early in their career the Shadow artist performed in a white padded cell with blue and pink bars.
The original artist has said she prefers the cover.
