The 5 O’Clock Shadow: September 2, 2019
The song was first released 50 years ago this month. It is an antiestablishment song of defiance and blue-collar pride. The song has been covered by everyone from U2 to Wyclef Jean, to Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl and Zac Brown performing it live together during the Concert for Valor in DC.
The Shadow artists are sisters. Both sisters have also toured as backing musicians for some notable artists including Elvis Costello and Conor Oberst.
The original artist does not own the rights to the song and so has been forced to painfully stand by as it is used inappropriately used in advertising such as for Wrangler Jeans.
