The 5 O’Clock Shadow: August 27, 2019

It’s a Lot. It’s risqué (that’s a clue), provocative and possibly politically incorrect but it’s today’s Shadow. The song was controversial when it was released in 1984 and many radio stations refused to play it. Could it have been the synthesized whip-and-chain sound effects? Regardless of radio airplay it still made it on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Shadow version includes vocals from a member of the original band, in fact the original songwriter. The shadow artist is known for covering new wave (another clue) bands including The Cure, Joy Division, and Echo & the Bunnymen.
