The original artist passed away yesterday at the age of 52. This song comes from his brand new project and self-titled album of colorful hills. It’s the saddest song on a record of happy sounding-sad songs. It’s particularly more poignant now that he’s gone.

The Shadow artist counts the original artist as one of his most important influences. He’s a young singer and songwriter from Baltimore that put out an amazing debut album in 2017 entitled All Is Not Lost. He made a lot of “friends” with that record and his tireless work teaching music to kids at McDonogh School and hustling at Frazier’s On The Avenue. He also has a project in New York called Theophobia. And – he made a point of coming to WTMD’s studio today to record his version of this song.

The 5 O’Clock Shadow is made possible by Coney Island Beer.
