This late, great, soul singer, with an affinity for James Brown, takes a slice of Americana rock and gives it a soulful makeover. The singer, and his band, flips the song on its head-adding plenty of horns and groove to create a bona fide soul classic.
The original artist is a hearse driving, genre bending Canadian singer songwriter who had his only number one hit with this country tinged song that searches for kindness and understanding. It was written during his softer acoustic period brought on by a back injury that would not allow him to stand up and play electric guitar for long periods of time.
