This San Francisco country rock outfit was sometimes treated like the Grateful Dead’s little brother. Members of the Dead, notably Jerry Garcia, were included in its original line up. However, they would shake that weight and move on to success in their own right.
A native of Arkansas, this singer and multi instrumentalist began performing at age 17 and would become a member of Bob Dylan’s backing band…a group that would morph into one of the most influential acts of the 1970’s and beyond. He’s not heavy, he’s the drummer.
