The original band were a chart-topping Motown vocal group who began their career performing as The Primettes. This 1966 Holland-Dozier-Holland classic has been covered by many acts, including Vanilla Fudge, who scored a Top 10 hit with it the next year.
Today’s Shadow act was fronted by a young singer-songwriter from Memphis who’d go on to be a not so Big Star after leaving this group in 1970.
