Singer-guitarist Olivia Hally and fiddle-mandolinist Pepi Emmerichs make up the Melbourne duo Oh Pep! The exclamation point at the end of their name seems appropriate given the excitement the two of them share for songwriting and making music together. I Wasn’t Only Thinking About You follows their critically acclaimed 2016 debut album Stadium Cake, but they’ve been making music much longer than that, having met in high school over a decade ago, and the chemistry between them is evident in both their studio work and their presence on stage. While Oh Pep! have become known for a more upbeat kind of folk pop, their albums are wide ranging in sound, and there is plenty to dig into – both lyrically and sonically – in this new collection.
