Dig into this week’s Saturday Alternative playlist! The Fitting Room album was the new self-titled album by Michael Nau & The Mighty Thread.

Michael Nau’s music flows with the kind of calm and carefree spirit that drifts along and takes the listener with it where it goes. The Cumberland, Maryland artist – once of the bands Page France and Cotton Jones – has proven himself a prolific songwriter on his own in recent years, with the release of his debut solo album, 2016’s fantastic Mowing, another great album called Some Twist in 2017 and the followup EP, The Load, soon after that. Now he’s back with another full length album, but this time it was made a bit differently – that is, all in one place – his guitarist Benny Yurco’s one-bedroom apartment in Burlington, Vermont. Nau has said that this album feels most like a band record than ever before, and that’s why he named it after them. Michael Nau & the Mighty Thread has that natural full band vibe, but with the same warm and breezy folk rock flow of his past work – a perfect album to lift us up and carry us through the rest of our summer days.
