Dig into this week’s Saturday Alternative playlist! The Fitting Room album was The Future and the Past by Natalie Prass, out now on ATO Records.
Natalie Prass had a full album of material ready to go way back in 2016, but had to do some serious soul searching after the election. She ultimately decided to start over and make an album that – as she says – “was going to get me out of my funk, one that would hopefully lift other people out of theirs, too…” Coming three years after her successful self-titled debut, she’s back with another fun and funky album that will do just that.
Once again working with her pal and producer Matthew E. White at his Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, VA, Natalie Prass serves up more of those inescapable grooves and melodies that seem to come so naturally to her, and while her album has a deeper meaning and purpose, it’s hard not to move with the grooves and have a good time while listening – and I don’t think she’d have it any other way.
We’ll all get to see Natalie this coming Thursday at the Canton Waterfront Park as she plays the next First Thursday Festival!
