Dig into this week’s Saturday Alternative playlist! The Fitting Room album was What A Time To Be Alive by Superchunk, out now on Merge Records.

Superchunk are still going strong nearly 30 years later, and as always, they’re using their blistering punk rock medium to speak their minds. What A Time To Be Alive is their first new album since 2013’s I Hate Music, and as they say in a press release, “It would be strange to be in a band, at least our band, and make a record that completely ignored the surrounding circumstances that we live in and that our kids are going to grow up in.” And so, Mac McCaughan, Laura Ballance, Jim Wilber and Jon Wurster made an album with as powerful and clear a message as ever, out on their own Merge Records, the now iconic indie rock label they started themselves so many years ago.
