Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings share video for “Call On God”

In 2007, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings recorded “Call On God” during the sessions for 100 Days, 100 Nights. It’s a song she wrote in the 70’s while singing with E.L. Fields’ Gospel Wonders, and it was decided that they’d keep it off 100 Days, and instead include it on a gospel album – one that sadly never came to fruition.

Prior to her passing in November of 2016, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings recorded one final studio album, and now, all these years later, this powerful song and performance will finally be released. Soul of a Woman comes out on November 17th, and the band has shared “Call On God,” along with 10-year old studio footage of the late great Sharon Jones performing it at the piano. Watch below.
