The original band was formed and fronted by three harmonizing brothers. Though they’d come to be known for their big disco hits of the 70’s, this desperate love song – written for Otis Redding – became a hit for them in 1967, when their sound was still rooted in the psychedelic pop rock of the time.

The Shadow artist – a legendary blues belter – included her version of the song on her 1969 album, which was both her solo debut, and the final album she’d release in her short lifetime, as she’d pass away a little over a year later at only 27 years old.

The 5 O’Clock Shadow is presented by Flying Dog Brewery.
