The original artist was a great songwriter and poet, considered one of the best lyricists of all time. His songs are covered often, but the most famous is likely a song of praise, performed by a young musician who died in a freak swimming accident in 1997.
This is a live cover, performed much more recently, by a husband-wife duo with ties to the Allman Brothers Band. Judy Collins was the first to record it, her version released in 1968, a year before the original. You’re likely to see this anytime you look up at a power line.
The 5 O’Clock Shadow is presented by Flying Dog Brewery.
