Dig into this week’s Saturday Alternative playlist! The Fitting Room album was Villains by Queens of the Stone Age, out now on Matador Records.

When you learn that Queens of the Stone Age linked up with the great pop producer Mark Ronson for their album, Villains, you get it in your head that this will be some of the more accessible music that we’ve heard from Josh Homme and company, and while that assumption is accurate, that’s not to say this album doesn’t rock out with that kind of sultry and sinister grit and attitude that makes them one of the coolest bands out there. Villains grooves and cuts with enough edge and intensity to scratch that itch. And when you think back to Ronson’s award winning work with Amy Winehouse, the collaboration begins to make more sense. Dave Growl doesn’t play any drums on this album like he has on albums past, but with Baltimore native and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore holding it down on the kit, there’s not a thing to be missed. Villains is an album worth sinking your teeth into.
