This week we’ll hear the latest installment of smARTbeats – our monthly interview with a Teaching Artist working in Maryland schools through the non-profit Young Audiences of Maryland. Today we’ll be chatting with jazz singer and former Raelette Renee Georges. She sang with Ray Charles for six years, but nowadays, Renee spends her time working as a Young Audiences Teaching Artist trying to spread the appreciation of jazz music among young children.

This week’s Talking Tunes is “Come On Get Happy,” the theme song from The Partridge Family TV show. And our Adult Kids are The Flaming Lips, who recorded a song for the kid TV show Yo Gabba Gabba and contributed a song off their 1997 Zaireeka CD for Colours Are Brighter, a compilation CD for kids and everyone on Rough Trade Records. Proceeds from the CD went to the Save the Children Foundation.

We’ll also hear new music from kindie artists Caspar Babypants, Danny Weinkauf and Jazzy Ash.

Enjoy this eclectic mix of music!

Best,
Lisa
