Today we’ll be celebrating travel, with songs about different places in the world and traveling. Mark Twain said “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” I agree. Travel is important, and every time we travel it’s an educational experience.

Our Adult Kid this week is Mark Mothersbaugh, who was lead singer of the new wave band Devo and a composer of such kid-friendly ventures as Pee Wee’s Playhouse and the Rugrats TV shows. Mothersbaugh composed the theme song to Pee Wee’s Playhouse, and here’s a clip.

We’ll also be Talking Tunes with Brian and Tom – today’s tune is “Come Sail Away” – but not the Styx version. Brian and Tom preferred the Southpark version, featuring vocals by Eric Cartman.

Enjoy, and happy trails!
Lisa
