Broken Social Scene are back. After 7 years, the Canadian band has pulled together all their parts for a new album called Hug of Thunder. There’s good reason they’ve always been considered more of a collective than a band, especially since so many of their members have gone on to enjoy success in other projects, like Feist, Metric and Stars, two of whom have released new music this year. More than ever, this band feels and sounds like a family – a group of friends having fun making some amazing music together. With Kevin Drew at the helm, all 15 members have regrouped for their 5th studio album. They’re happy to be back together, and you get a real sense of that just by listening.
