Arcade Fire is touring behind their forthcoming album Everything Now (out July 28) and played three gigs in Britain this week — and they were all pretty unique.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, they performed at a boxing arena in London where they introduced a number of new songs from Everything Now. Thursday it was Manchester, a city still reeling from the recent terror attack, where the band affectionately described Mancunians as an “inspiration to the rest of the world.”
The boxing arena on Wednesday night was especially interesting. The band introduced by the venue’s boxing announcer, who described Arcade Fire as the “undefeated, undisputed heavyweight champions of the world,” who was then joined on stage by none other than Game of Thrones’ Brienne of Tarth (actor Gwendolyn Christie) to ring the bell to begin the ‘bout’!
Celebrities were all over the joint: Jude Law, James Murphy, Woody Harrelson and Kings of Leon were just a few of the high profiles seen in the audience.
