At this year’s SXSW, everyone was talking about a teenage rock band from Baltimore.

Pitchfork awarded them Best New Track for their song “Thinning,” and published a huge profile of their lead singer, 17-year-old Lindsey Jordan, calling her “the wisest teenage indie rocker we know.”

Stereogum gushed that Lindsey “is able to fit a universe of emotion into a single turn of phrase without any vocal affectation … whether she’s muttering or shouting, you feel the heartbreak, the frustration, the joy that came with writing these lyrics.”

The band is Snail Mail, and on Tuesday May 16 you can see them live right here in WTMD’s intimate performance studio.

Snail Mail won’t be playing rooms this small for long. Two weeks after their show here, they’re setting off on their first big national tour, and Lindsey deferred college for a year to pursue Snail Mail full time. They are the most exciting rock band to come out of Baltimore’s music scene in years.

This show is a live radio broadcast with a small studio audience. You’re going to want to be in the room for this.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show runs from 9 p.m.-10 p.m. All ages. 1 Olympic Place in Towson.
