This Los Angeles act lasted only 5 years, but after their split, they didn’t slow down or hide away in their shells. Instead, keeping with the theme of this cheery 1967 chart-topper, the two band leaders stuck together and joined Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention, released several albums on their own, and continued their careers as session musicians.
If the original band were trapped in a cage, the Shadow band – also from California – would likely try to free them. They’re good friends with Jack Johnson and have been releasing music on his label for over a decade.
The 5 O’Clock Shadow is presented by Flying Dog Brewery.
