This week’s Adult Kid, Lisa Loeb

Young At Heart’s first show airs on March 4th at 7 AM, and I’m so excited to share children’s music that’s for everyone. You’ll find a mix of kid-friendly tunes from adult artists along with some of the best names in the kindie music genre. Each show will spotlight an adult artist and their kid-friendly music in a regular feature called Adult Kid. This week’s AK artist is Lisa Loeb. We’ll hear “Say Hello,” a song off Feel What U Feel, her latest release for kids, and “I Do” off her Firecracker CD.

While creating this show, I’ve been happy to find some amazing new music that adult artists are creating with kids in mind. One of my favorite finds is Walter Martin. WTMD listeners might know Walter from his adult band The Walkmen, and he’s also released a new solo album for adults called Arts and Leisure. We’ll be spotlighting Walter in an upcoming Adult Kids, but here’s a video of “The Beatles (When Ringo Shook His Mop),” a song you’ll hear on this week’s show. It’s from his 2014 release for families We’re All Young Together. Look for My Kinda Music, his new release for kids coming this May.

I’m also loving the first CD for kids from STEVENSTEVEN – that’s Steve Burns (of Blue’s Clues fame), and Steven Drozd (of the Flaming Lips). They have a wonderful new release called Foreverywhere, and we’ll be chatting with Steve and Steven in an upcoming segment of Young At Heart. Here’s a video of “The Unicorn and Princess Rainbow,” a song on this week’s show. Fun family fact: Princess Rainbow is played by Steven Drozd’s daughter.

If you have recommendations for kid-friendly songs that might be perfect for Young At Heart listeners, or just want to find out more about the show, please email me at [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you.

Until next time,
Lisa
