Today, for Chuck Berry’s 90th birthday, he has presented us with a gift – or at least, the announcement of one. The rock n’roll pioneer will be releasing Chuck, his first new album in 38 years. Arriving in 2017 on Dualtone Records, the LP will consist of mostly new material, written and produced by Chuck Berry himself. It was recorded it in various studios around St. Louis with help from his hometown backing band, which includes his son, Charles Berry Jr., on guitar, and his daughter, Ingrid Berry, on harmonica.
In a press release, Berry dedicated the album to his wife of nearly 70 years, Thermetta Berry. “This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy. My darlin’ I’m growing old! I’ve worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes.” See the album artwork below.
