Baltimore dream-rockers Lower Dens have been performing their cover of Hall and Oates’ 1982 smash hit “Maneater” for a while now at shows. In fact, you may have heard Jana Hunter and company covering it here at the WTMD studios last April at An Evening with Lower Dens. They’ve now shared a studio version of the song, which will be included on The Time Is Now, a charity album to benefit amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. The album, out October 7th on Republic Records/Mass Appeal Records, will include several other 80’s covers by bands like Phantogram (Phil Collins’ “Take Me Home”), Metric (The Church’s “Under The Milkyway) and Scarlett Johansson’s band Sugar for Sugar (New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle”). Listen to “Maneater” below, and be sure to catch Lower Dens performing with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the final Pulse concert of the season on May 11th. Tickets at bsopulse.org.
