On Nov. 12th, Baltimore’s own Wye Oak performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to a sold out crowd at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The collaboration was part of Pulse, a concert series that brings together classical music and indie rock, exploring the connections between the two as they performed, both separately and together, on the same stage. The entire evening of music was broadcast live on WTMD.
Wye Oak has been a WTMD favorite since their formation in 2006, and to see Jenn and Andy on that stage, surrounded by some of the best musicians on the planet, was a beautiful moment for us here at the station and for the Baltimore music scene as a whole. For their collaboration, the BSO’s Assistant Conductor Nicholas Hersh led the orchestra in arrangements by composer William Brittelle. Below, you can listen to their performance of “The Tower,” a song from their most recent album, Shriek.
