With Wye Oak on hiatus from touring, Jenn Wasner has been working on songs for her first full-length album for her solo project, Flock of Dimes.

This month she’s on the road opening for Sylvan Esso, testing eight of her new tracks in front of live audiences.

When she gets back, Wasner plans to work on production with Mickey Freeland, record the songs at Beat Babies and have Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands) mix them.

Meanwhile, she and Andy Stack are recording unreleased Wye Oak material which could surface on a future album.

Wasner spoke with Sam Sessa about her songwriting process for Work in Progress, a new feature on Baltimore Hit Parade which airs at 9 p.m. tonight.
