dc5Despite their 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and slew of hits including “Glad All Over” (covered recently by drummer Steve Jordan’s new band The Verbs, and heard on TMD), the Dave Clark Five seemed to be the inevitable runner-up.

They got so close to stratospheric fame when they knocked off The Beatles’ “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” from the top of the UK singles charts in 1964, the same year they were the second British Invasion band to play the Ed Sullivan Show.

And unlike their peers, the DC5 were stuck in time musically and so never evolved.
