In 1966, Jimmy Page made his live concert debut with The Yardbirds at the Marquee Club in London.
In 1967, to celebrate the Summer Solstice, The Dead, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Quicksilver played outside at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park- Wish I coulda been there for that one.
On this day in 1975, Captain and Tennille started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with the Neil Sedaka song ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’. The husband and wife duo of “Captain” Daryl Dragon and Cathryn Antoinette “Toni” Tennille had worked as backup musicians for Elton John and Neil Sedaka prior to venturing out on their own.
In 1986, Genesis released ‘Invisible Touch’ and it stayed on the charts for nearly two years and birthed five No. 1 singles.
In 1998, Bobby Brown was arrested on charges of sexual battery after an incident at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.
In 2000, Karen McNeil was sentenced to a year in prison for stalking- She claimed she was the wife of Axl Rose and that she communicated with him telepathically.
