Alternative music star Ben Harper and blues harmonica king Charlie Musselwhite, two surprising kindred musical spirits, release their first album together, the scorching Get Up on January 29th.
They came together over their love of the blues and it shows with this collection of straight up, defiant rockers and uplifting, gospel tinged ballads. Backed expertly by Harper’s band Relentless 7, the album is one of the best out of the gate in early 2013.
We were fortunate last week to speak with Ben and Charlie about the record, their musical chemistry and what it’s like for an ex-drinker to live in, perhaps, one of the more difficult places on earth! Listen to the Sunny Side Up interview below.
