Neil Halstead has done it again! He’s made another superb, artfully-crafted acoustic record in Palindrome Hunches that’s as easy to cozy up to this season as an autumn sweater- remarkable given the Cornwall, England native’s former penchant for plugging-in, looking down and drenching his music in distortion as he did as frontman of shoegazing trailblazers Slowdive.
And while he once counted the Jesus and Mary Chain and Lush as peers, he shares more in common these days with Nick Drake and Bert Jansch, English folk guitarists and songwriters who played acoustic guitar hauntingly and unconventionally.
Listen to Neil Halstead’s Sunny Side Up Session from 12-01-1. It’s about as good as it gets!
