Before he became the political soul of The Clash, Joe Strummer played a style of music that produced the likes of Nick Lowe, Graham Parker and Elvis Costello.

But a chance billing with a band known for spikey hair, safety pins and a brash anti-establishment attitude changed Strummer’s outlook on music and what he wanted it to do with it.
