The Baker Artist Award has made its mark on Baltimore by endearing itself to the artists and art patrons at large and endowing $342,000 over the last four years to 52 Baltimore artists. Each year a show at the Baltimore Museum of Art is put together with the nine $1,000 B-Grant award winners and three $25,000 Mary Sawyers Baker Prize winners. These artists are chosen by a jury and are selected for their integrity and quality of their art. I was lucky enough to go visit one of the winners, sculptor David Knopp, at his home studio and talk about his work and his art.
