The Washington Blade announces some sad news for record store lovers–especially those of us who spent Saturday afternoons between Kemp Mill, Melody and 12″ Dance Records in Dupont Circle down in DC in the 80s.  Melody Records has closed.

Dupont was once a thriving neighborhood full of locally owned stores from Kramerbooks and Lambda Rising to all of these fine record stores and restaurants.  The neighborhood has grown in the last 20 years and today it’s becoming home to more and more upscale chain and retail shops.
