Renowned design expert Mitchell Gold will sign his timely new book, The Comfortable Home: How to Invest in Your Nest and Live Well for Less (Clarkson Potter/Melcher Media, 2009, $35.00) during a launch party and reception at The House Downtown on Thursday, March 11, 2010. For one night only, Mitchell Gold and The House Downtown will offer a buy one book, get one free promotion.

During the signing, Gold will introduce the decorating book, which is particularly relevant in today's economy. Gold is the founder and co-owner, with business partner Bob Williams, of the internationally acclaimed, North Carolina-based furniture company, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

The event is also a launch party for The House Downtown, Baltimore's premier independent retailer for classic, sophisticated furnishings and accessories. The event is FREE and open to the public.

This wry, jocular work from leading Russian playwrights, the Presnyakov Brothers, features a thirty-something college dropout with a fierce willingness to avoid real work. Valya, still living with his mother, dating an indifferent girlfriend, and mixed up in a Hamlet-style vindication against a future father-in-law, makes his living by 'playing dead' in murder reconstructions for the police.This defiant, deft, and delectable foray into Russian culture both submerges gleefully in irreverence and rings profoundly of truth.

The Radiators were formed in New Orleans in 1978, the result of a casual afternoon jam session in keyboardist Ed Volker's lakefront garage. Volker, drummer Frank Bua, Jr., and guitarist Camile Baudoin were then members of the Rhapsodizers. Guitarist Dave Malone and bassist Reggie Scanlon were in another band, Roadapple, and the magic the 5 musicians conjured up that afternoon was just what they'd all been searching for. Later that same week they learned several original songs that they still play live today.

They soon became an integral part of the revitalization of the New Orleans music scene that saw the growth of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the birth of the city's premier music club, Tipitina's. The band played with many legends of New Orleans music: Professor Longhair, Jessie Hill and Ernie K-Doe, as well as being Earl King's regular back-up band for many years. A favorite party band of college students throughout the eighties, The Radiators toured extensively all over the U.S., often playing 4 night stands at New York City's famed musical mecca, The Lone Star Cafe. Signed by Epic Records in 1987, they released 3 studio albums, which received widespread radio play and featured such Rads' classics as 'Like Dreamers Do', 'Doctor Doctor', 'Conden- tial', and 'Suck The Head'.

Time has seasoned The Radiators, but far from slowing them down they still keep up a brisk and comprehensive tour schedule playing close to 150 dates a year and still selling out shows in such major markets as New York, San Fran- cisco, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Denver.They have held down one of the coveted closing spots at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for 20+ years and....yes, you can still find them onstage at Tips and all of the other legendary New Orleans clubs.

GPS Adventures is an exhibition exploring cutting-edge Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology combined with an interactive Inner Harbor Geocaching adventure, at the Maryland Science Center beginning February 20, 2010. The exhibition will be on display through April 18, 2010.

GPS Adventures will guide visitors, or "explorers," through the history and future of navigation with more than 20 activities in a 4,500 square foot maze. Obstacles and puzzles will demonstrate the impact and advancement of GPS technology and how it is used. Each completed task or challenge leads visitors one step closer to their destination of Treasure City.

After completing the activities inside the Maryland Science Center, visitors can extend the experience through Geocaching, a family-friendly treasure hunting game in which participants will use actual GPS devices provided by the Maryland Science Center to search for caches hidden around the Inner Harbor.

Admission to GPS Adventures is included with admission to the Maryland Science Center.
