A Little About the Band "Every song I write is rooted in
experience. You know pretty quickly
if someone's lying to you. It's got to be something you've felt before. The emotions have got to be felt deeply." Caleb Stine and the Brakemen are lynchpins in the city's folk scene. Stine, who also plays solo, formed the Brakemen about two years ago with a revolving cast of musicians, including Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack of Wye Oak. In conversation, Stine casually (but seriously) compares Hank Williams to Jay-Z. The group's single "Come Back Home" was one of the most poignant songs to come from the city's local music scene last year. And their new album, I'll Head West Again, is loaded with vivid imagery, colorful characters and strong storytelling. Caleb Stine and The Brakemen are releasing their
second full-length album
on May 17th with a concert at
The 8x10.
